We have a new garage under construction here at Montana Diecast. A bigger and better shop for the little people to work on the cars and trucks. They could not wait to get in there and start turning wrenches, so during a break in the construction, they went to work on some of the Richard Petty Matchbox and Racing Champions cars and transporters.
Check out the Richard Petty Matchbox van waiting for an oil change and lube. That is my current favorite stock Matchbox van in my collection.
This is the Petty car that was banned by Nascar because it was to fast.
From bleacherreport.com~ "On Oct. 19, 1964, NASCAR issued new rules for the 1965 NASCAR Grand National campaign designed to curb speeds and increase the focus on safety. The engine displacement remained unchanged, but special limited edition engines were banned, including the Chrysler Hemi."
"Chrysler packed up and pulled out of NASCAR in protest. Richard Petty would not defend his championship, and top contenders David Pearson, Paul Goldsmith, Bobby Isaac, Jim Paschal, and LeeRoy Yarbrough were on the sidelines. It was a season marked by protest and controversy. "
